I just started a website and had an interview.

Here is a glimpse of what the interview was like.

1. What inspired you to develop this app, and how does it stand out from others in the market?

My inspiration came from the need to create a WhatsApp Status saver app that did not have so many adverts in the app. The current status saver apps available to the public where filled with interruptive ads. I decided to create one with a better experience with or without an internet connection on.

2. What specific user needs or problems does your app address?

The app has direct access to disappearing WhatsApp statuses of users and saves the statuses to the gallery for future viewing. There is also a feature to send a message to any WhatsApp number even if they are not in your contact list. The app has the latest HD video and HD image gallery viewers.

3. For aspiring app developers, what key lessons have you learned that contributed to your app’s success?

You need to be a good programmer or have access to a good programmer to have an app that thrives on the play store. The second lesson I have learned is that you need to get an amazing marketing strategy to surface at the top of the multitude of apps. Finally I would recommend app developers have other sources of revenue and not just their apps, for example having a website that supports the app businesses as well.

4. Can you discuss the strategies or tactics you employed to effectively promote and reach your target audience with your app?

I used Google Ads to boost user acquisition, I used approximately 200$ to get the app above 10k users within the first two months. If I had a larger budget I would have gone beyond 50k installs. However I am now gaining users from organic traffic.

5. Throughout your app development journey, what particular obstacle did you find the most challenging, and how did you overcome it?

I was so excited during the development of this app until I discovered Google had implemented a law on SAF (Storage Access Framework) for newer versions of Android. So in summary what SAF does is it requires an app to only gain access to a specific folder within a device and a user has to first give permission to access that folder. I tried to get help from the GitHub page of the open source project I was working on, I tried forums like stack overflow but I failed to get any assistance until I gave ChatGPT a try. Within a week I was able to fix the issue and deploy the app to Alpha stage.

There is a lot more to the interview, feel free to check out PajeReviews website for details on the interview. The interview was conducted by Lucas Gonza. Our goal with the Trending Apps page is to bring the developers behind these amazing apps to readers of the website with the goal of inspiring future developers on the mistakes to avoid and the strategies to follow.
